I am leaving a comment when Allah chose to take Saima to Him………..May her soul rests in Jannat-ul-Firdaus and may Allah shower His choicest blessings on her. May Allah give her family and friends courage to bear the loss.

Saima is dead, but let us pledge to keep her work alive………that in my opinion would be best tribute to Saima.

  7. Inna lillah hey wa inna elahay rajeoon.
I first met Saima in 1996, when a client of ours placed their advertisement in the Pakistan Foundation Fighting Blindness annual publication.
Although i did not meet her more than a dozen times in all, both professionally and socially, i was always impressed by her resilience and dedication.
Each time i met her, i wondered where she got the will, the strength and the courage to go on — till yesterday (thursday 22 december 2011) the shortest day was just as short to make saima’s stay shorter.
Allah bless her soul, and give the family the understanding of His ways. aamin

    Assalam-o-Alaikum Saimee,

How are you today. I am back in Geneva after having great time in Vienna. I found the city to be a nice mix of friendly people, international food, and marvelous architect. When you go to Italy next time, consider it for a visit.

Life in Geneva is fine…. We went for ski on the weekend and for the 1st time in seven years, I did not fall (what an achievement…….).

Other than that we attended several Milads which are being organized by many small (and conflicting) groups. Its also an opportunity hear gossips about Pakistani community…. The best part in all of them is the Niaz at the end :-) . While they do not compete for unity or quality of what is presented during the Milad, they definitely compete to offer good food at the end (Much bettter than Bari Imam kay Pakory….). I am sure you are thinking of coming to Geneva (Achay khanay kay liya ham kaheen bhee ja saktay hain….).

Do you remember we had bought 3 copies of an audio cassette, from Off Beat, of a live concert by lata and Mukaish which was held in USA? It was amazing that I found that cassette yesterday. I listened to it and it has the most amazing songs and off course most amazing memories of the university days. It starts with “tery bina zindgi say koi shikwa to nahi” and then goes to “savan ka maheena, pavan karay shoor”. There is also “jo wada kiya who nibhana paray ga” and “Kabhi kabhi mairy dil may”……

We gave one copy to three of us. On the inside cover of the one I have it say, in Ali’s handwriting “a friendly token from Saimee” and then someone scratched :-) S N at the bottom…

I am quite sure both you and Ali have lost it… but if you can still get it, it would be great to listen to it…

    Have a nice day

  15. Asad says:

    Dear Saimee,

    How you are you…

We are all fine here. Its been a very warm winter for locals but we or at least I am very happy. Its sunny for almost a whole week now with temperatures up to 12 degrees. Your “bhateejas” are quite disappointed though, as there is hardly any natural snow on mountains and they have to ski on artificial snow…..

I am preparing to go to Vienna for a four day meeting. I hope it will be interesting to talk (and listen) about relationship between a “green economic growth” and poverty reduction. I will be back next Friday.

It has always been challenging to really find out how to reduce poverty. Now its time to give “green economy” a try. I think God almighty has to come in to do alleviate poverty….By the way, do you still read books ( I mean books not “readings” for ratta:-). Recently I starting reading a book about God and found it very interesting.

Since you have a firm belief in God, I can recommend it you (for those who have weak belief, it can misguide them). The book is called A History of God. But if you don’t have time for book, there is a 94 min movie based on the book which is available at http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-206887275399093528#. Let me know if you decide to watch it and how you feel.

Will write to you soon again.

    Take care

  17. Asad says:

    Hi Saimee,

How are you.. Its been two weeks since I wrote to you…. seems like a long time. As I wrote to Ammar on facebook, soon after coming to Geneva, I had to go to Ghana for an advisory mission. Off course, you dont know what is an advisory mission. DO YOU?. these terms are only for people who work for “esteemed” institutions…… :-) ….. Anyway, after advising Ghana I got back on the weekend.

As I got back, Atiya, Eimaan, Aabis and Naday Ali were asking about you. So I thoght I’ll ask you directly how are you feeling now…..I am sure you were feeling much better before you read Ali’s message…. Though I told him that we did not discuss his latest hairstyle and football figure but he does not believe me… It you testify, it may possibly help……

I missed you yesterday as I was passing by a potato field where its says “fresh potatos for sale”. It required that you harvest and collect the potatoes, weight them and put the money in a box which is placed at the entrance of the field. Unfortunately, there was nobody to benefit from the offer (Lazy goray..). It would have very beneficial for the farmer if you were here. Taza aalo kay chips ka apna he maza hay…hay naa?? Do you remember the taza aalo that were brought from mandi bahuddin …. :-)

Take good care and keep smiling……

    With prayers and best wishes

  19. Muhammad Ali Abdullah says:

    Dearest Saimee
Great talking to you last week after such a long time. I sincerely hope you would have accepted my confessional apology, well the truth is you weren’t out of my mind at all….all I can say in my defence is
‘ Duniya nai teri yaad sai begana kar diya
Tujh sai bhi dilfaraib thai gham rozgar kai’
I do remember all the good time at the Uni and always share it with Sadia and Aisha. As I told you the other day InshahAllah time isn’t far off when we’ll be together again on the ‘Huts’ eating our favourites ‘anda-kabab and crisis with orange juice’….the only addition would be that our families will be with us too. So Ma’am get well soon ( the actual one, not the card one). As you know in both khusi and gham you were at the helm during the Uni days and your smile ( well actually the big laughter) used to settle down all the issues, so keep smiling as you are my brave sister. I am planning to visit Pakistan around September and I am taking you to Huts and all those weird places we used to go……. for that I definitly need a fully recovered Saimee and InshahAllah I’ll meet her then…Promise.
Always remember whenever you feel like talking to me I am just one ring away ( 24/7…..365 days)…..all you have to do is press the right buttons…….press 1 for ‘serious talk, 2 for laughter, 3 for remembering the golden uni days, 4 for backbiting (especially against Asad and the group) and so on. I am sure you will be pressing 4 every time ( we were really good in that remember), but I will insist on pressing 2 please.
Take care and I’ll talk to you soon…great news I have become a regular nimazi and am praying for your a very very speedy recovery….so don’t worry at all
With all our prayers and care ( Aisha, Sadia and me)
    Ali ( der alla)

    Ever so dearest Saimee,

It was such a pleasure meeting you and refreshing the old memories ranging from shezan and “aabpara kay chips” to “??? kay motay motay kaan” (dont tell this to all the girlfriends that he may have by now :-) ……

Thank you for your usual hospitality. Samosay, gajjar ka halwa, sandwiches, dahi bharaay and chai were great. I regret having Ammar there who was counting every bite… I hope I will have a better luck next time :-)

We have reached Geneva and all of us have read this blog (thanks for creating it, pls. keep it updated).

Best wishes and prayers from Atiya, Eimaan, Aabis and Naday Ali.

GET WELL THE SOONEST… “Crisis” at the Uni huts is waiting for us…..

Keep smiling (as you usually do)…

    My dearest friend,
Till now I didn’t even think of talking to you in this remote and distant way, always hoping to be with you and by your side as often as I could. But it seems it would be quite a while before I am able to see you.
Saima my dear, you are always in my thoughts. I feel so lonely and bereft without you. I miss your laughter, your warmth and your uncanny ability to predict nothing but good for your friends and how these predictions used to come true most of the time.Such was the power of your love.
I am extremely grateful to Allah that the worst is over and you are well on your way to recovery. I am 100% sure that in the loving care of your family you’d soon be on your feet and back to an active life.
I yearn to be with you and laugh with you. At times I feel so useless because I can’t do anything for you.
Just remember that we are all praying for you. Ammi,Ali, Aizaaz,Bibi and Abdullah are all sending their love.
“Fee Ammanallah”,Allah Kay Hawalay, Rub Rahka
    All my love,

  33. Shirin and Shahid Akhtar says:

    Dear Saima,

I tried to access your blog a couple of times but being technologically challenged that I am, only managed to get repeated error messages. Finally, with some remote assistance from Ammar, I managed to click on the right links and had a chance to look at your blog. Very impressive. But then, what’s new?

Saima betey, you scared the daylight out of us. We received the news of your illness with total disbelief. What you faced would test the will of anyone. Yet, your own resilience and the prayers and faith of those to whom you brought joy, cheer and hope is stronger than the challenge you faced.

As you are a globe trotter. think seriously of visiting Canada upon your full recovery. We would love to have you and Ammar here. All you have to do is just land. Complete relaxation and good time is guaranteed.

Saima, you have a lot to contribute to making this a better world. Now get well soon, for yourself, your family and friends and all those countless people whose lives you have touched.

    With love and prayers,

    Shirin and Shahid

Because of your NGO so many houses are being run.I appeal our nation to pray for her as she really needs our duas during this hard time.she lost her sight when she was 3 now she has lost control over her limbs, she has lost her speech and now is on the ventilator.please pray for my SAIMA BAJI.she is a gem of a person,so bold,so determined,so focused so intelligent. She is our nation’s Saima. She is our nation’s pride. For all the services she has rendered for Pakistan is remarkable.I have never seen a person so full of life and so very contented with life the way she is.We are blessed with so many blessings still we crib over petty things but inspite of being visually impaired she continued her life like any other normal person. She completed her studies and opened an NGO PFFB to educate visually impaired people.she has done so much for this nation now its our duty to pay her back in the form of our duas.lets pray that she gets well soon and has a long, healthy and a normal life INSHALLAH.Last but not the least we all miss your laughters, your beautiful voice and your verstaile personality. Please wake up saima baji. You have always been a fighter so please fight back and tell the world that you are here with us. We all need you back in our lives.

Mein tu aap se us waqat se munsalik houn jab hum nay 1995 mein aik chota sa audio world jo aik kamray per moheet tha start kiya. Meri aap ki itni lambi rafaqat ha aur usmein zindagi kay utar charhao mein aap ka PFFB staff ka khayal karna kuch bhi nahin bhol sakti.

aap ki yeh bimari aur aap ki sehat itni kharab hoi k hum tu jaisay khud hi apnay aap mein yeh sab problems daikh rahay thay. Ghar, office aur her jaga sirf aur sirf aap k sehat aur zindagi k liya dua karnay ka kahti. meri sari family, sub milnay walay, meray neighbours aur meray bachay yusra aur manahil aur aftab her roz ka aik hi sawal saima kaisai ha. Pehlay tu bas jaisay hamari roh qabaz hoi thi lakin Allah Jal-e-shan-o-hu ki karam nawazi k aap ki sehat behtar ho rahi ha. office mein bathay huway bhi her lamha aap hi ki fikar. Mein nay aap se July 28 ko kaha tha na k aap tension na lain aap ki sehat ijazat nahin dati phir bhi aap nay tension ki aur apni sehat kharab kar li. ab aap nay aisa bilkul nahin karna. Hum sub k dil aap k liya her her lamhay dua go hein K All aap ko jaldi sehat ata karay aur aap bilkul achi ho jain.

Jab se aap hospitalized hoi hein mein nay bohat dafa aap ko khawab mein dekha ha aur kabhi aap mujahy keh rahi hein k aabpara mein jo naya restaurant khula ha aaj wahan khana khanay jain gay order day do. Phir mein nay khawab daikha k aap meray sath batain kar rahi hein aur Insha Allah aap jald hi hum se batain karain gi. Allah aap ko lambi aur sehat wali zindagi ata karay aur aap wasey hi humsai muskarat qehqay bikharti apnay office mein biryani, aal chawal aur dal chawal enjoy karain. Ammen Suma ameen
